Mac OS X 10.2 “Jaguar”, Apple was left with few bullets in the chamber

The beginnings have always been difficult, more so when you face the burdens entailed in Apple over recent years. The year was 2002 and five years had passed since the return of Steve Jobs. Apple had taken an important step in a radical makeover to their computers with the release of the iMac, but it took an operating system to back him. The first steps had already been given, as we saw in previous posts, but Apple still had to give the final dots on its users and convince them that the jump from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X was necessary.

Jaguar Apple not only took a quantum leap as far as stability and new features are concerned, but also made a thorough cleaning of the image in its marketing strategy . For starters introduced a couple of new concepts, define your product is not their numbers (that was) but also with a name. The operating system was named after an aggressive cat, Jaguar and not just stay there the thing, since there would be a change in typography and design of the box much more striking than it was before.

Another significant change is the fact that each copy is provided with three CDs, two of them with the operating system itself, while the third included the developer tools. It did not include a copy of Mac OS 9, as they had in previous versions, now if you wanted to use Mac OS 9, you should have your own copy. This was another nod to Apple users to make him see that this was his bet and had to be renewed or die. But fortunately were not mere cosmetic changes, the new system brought more arguments and this time in the form of Software.
